We daily provide over 400+ meals a day to guest and neighbors in the community. We are always looking for volunteers to help serve during our restaurant style service Monday -Friday 12p- 3p.

reStart operates the only emergency youth shelter in the urban core of Kansas City, Missouri. The shelter provides a safe haven, warm beds, and three nutritious meals a day for youth ages 12–17. During their stay, reStart assumes guardianship and offers 24/7 supervision and support. The shelter’s pantry is currently in need of restocking with nutritious foods that youth enjoy. This pantry also serves as a tool for teaching valuable life skills such as cooking, cleaning, and meal preparation.

Fruition KC is community-building hour (430-530p) prior to The Micah Ministry (530-7p) every Monday. We offer community organizing & public leader engagement, resource presentations, live music, art, and games. We need people to help hosting our neighbors and building community among them. There is room for input into planning, if desired.

We will need a rather large pool of volunteers through out the cold weather season in order to ensure we are providing the most dignified care possible to the guests at our facility and hope to have those volunteers willing and ready to go when we open our doors for Cold Weather Season.

As winter approaches, reStart is assembling warming kits for those experiencing homelessness in Kansas City. Join us on December 2nd at our office to help pack backpacks for our Street Outreach Team to distribute during cold weather.

We’re seeking both volunteers to help assemble kits and donations of warm items like hats, gloves, socks, and blankets. Together, we can bring warmth and care to our neighbors this season.

~600 people come to the Micah Ministry every Monday night to receive a hot meal, clothing, hygiene items, and/or free medical care. We also provide regular opportunities to access services and resources which will help neighbors to reach their goals. With the goal of all neighbors housed and thriving, we want people who can assist with documents for IDs, Food Stamps, etc.. We have one organization who helps with some items on 3rd Mondays, but would like to offer this resource weekly.

Our agency needs resource information for immediate housing or respite solution for our clients in crisis. For example, a client is being discharged from hospital and has no where to go. Weekends are especially difficult because most places don't do intakes on the weekends

Support with washing laundry, organizing our clothing closet.

Many clients with Lawmo are currently struggling with paying their rent. They behind due to various reason and facing evictions. Many clients have recently lost their employment and due to this are unable to receive assistance through local resource providers due to their requirement of having employment to receive assistance. There are also many elderly clients who have had rent raised and are struggling to adjust their budget to pay rent due to limited income.

C.O.R.E outreach workers often encounter situations where immediate options such as shelter and transitional aren’t obtainable because clients cannot take there pets and do not have anyone to temporary house and take care of there pets.

In multiple reStart programs, we have youth experiencing homelessness that would benefit from holiday cheer. We are seeking donations of toys and gifts for children birth-18 to celebrate the holidays. Sponsor a family experiencing homelessness, youth in our emergency shelter, or youth in our transitional living facility. Everyone deserves the gift of holiday spirit.

We need a few cots for people to sleep on.

With the delay of SNAP benefits projected during November and potentially beyond, the single moms and children in our program will need the resources of our food pantry more than ever to keep their families fed. We utilize community resources such as Harvesters, but they too are being impacted by the cuts. We use $1,000 of agency funds toward our pantry weekly and anticipate that more will be needed as we compensate for increased demand.

We have created an amazon wishlist for the supplies needed for the Cold Weather Season. We would like to put emphasis on cots as they are the most pressing need. You can locate those cots on the list linked below, however any donations from our wish list would be greatly appreciated.
